Frequently Asked Questions

What are bone marrow concentrate cells?

These powerful, undifferentiated cells in bone marrow can develop into bone, muscle, cartilage, ligament, or tendon tissue. They’re one of the richest sources for regenerative therapies.

Our therapies support healing for:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendinitis
  • Chronic joint and back pain
  • Meniscal and ligament tears
  • Rotator cuff and labral shoulder injuries
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • And other musculoskeletal conditions

We extract a small amount of your bone marrow, concentrate the regenerative cells, and inject them directly into the damaged area. The cells then work to repair tissue, reduce inflammation, and accelerate recovery.

  • Avoids or delays major surgery
  • Minimally invasive with little to no downtime
  • No prescription pain medications needed long-term
  • Long-lasting pain relief and improved function
  • Natural approach with minimal side effects

Exclusively from you; typically via a quick, comfortable bone marrow aspiration from the hip. We process them on-site for maximum potency.

Is it covered by insurance?

Currently, most insurance does not cover regenerative cell therapies. Payment is due at the time of service, but we offer financing options to make treatment accessible.

Bone marrow aspiration: ~20 minutes. Injections: 10–15 minutes. The full visit is typically under an hour.

The best way to determine if you’re a candidate is through a personalized evaluation with David Harris, PA-C. Ideal candidates are typically those with chronic joint pain, tendon/ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, or other musculoskeletal conditions who want to avoid or delay surgery.

Good candidates generally:

  • Have mild to moderate joint degeneration or soft tissue injuries
  • Are in overall good health
  • Have realistic expectations about regenerative healing
  • Have not responded well to conservative treatments like physical therapy or medications

Factors such as age, severity of the condition, and overall health play a role. During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, imaging, and symptoms to determine if BMC cell therapy is appropriate for you.

Results vary by individual, depending on the condition being treated, its severity, your age, and overall health. Many patients report:

  • Reduced pain and inflammation
  • Improved joint function and mobility
  • Better quality of life and return to daily/sport activities

Some patients notice initial improvement within a few weeks as inflammation decreases, while full benefits from tissue regeneration often develop over 3 – 6 months (or longer in some cases). Because the therapy stimulates your body’s natural healing, results tend to be progressive and can be long-lasting.

We’ll discuss expected outcomes specific to your situation during your consultation.

Autologous bone marrow concentrate therapy is considered very safe because it uses cells from your own body, eliminating risks of rejection or disease transmission.

Possible side effects are generally mild and temporary, similar to other injection procedures:

  • Soreness or bruising at the harvest site (hip) or injection site
  • Mild swelling or stiffness
  • Temporary increase in pain (usually within the first few days)

Serious complications are rare. As with any medical procedure, there are small risks such as infection or bleeding. During your consultation, we’ll review your full medical history and discuss all potential risks so you can make an informed decision.

Recovery is typically minimal compared to surgery. Most patients:

  • Return to normal daily activities within 1–2 days
  • Experience only mild discomfort managed with over-the-counter pain relief (if needed)
  • Are encouraged to avoid high-impact activities for a short period (specific guidelines depend on the treatment area)

We provide detailed post-procedure instructions tailored to your case. Many patients combine therapy with a short course of physical therapy to optimize results. There is no lengthy hospital stay or extended rehabilitation required.
